Today's Letters: Buy park, spruce up city's east side
Letters to the Editor
Published January 13, 2008
City doesn't have to buy park, Jan. 9, letter
To the writer and the rest of the narrow-minded residents, the Community Redevelopment Agency funds are for this kind of project.
Maybe you think it is okay for the east side of Port Richey to have drugs and prostitutes and to always look run down. It's not okay.
Council, get with the program and buy the trailer park. Why do you think the east side looks so bad? Because the council is always fixing up the west side. Believe it or not, we pay taxes too and we want things done on our side of the city.
Judy Parisi,Port Richey
Swingers, spare a thought for others
Club Elite is another great attraction for Pasco County. I think a great new way to attract tourism to the county is to promote a new Saturday night line-up of events. The night can start at Caliente nudist resort. Caliente is the proud beacon of nudists worldwide. People come from all over just to dance in the nude and frolic in the pool. But don't forget your towel, you'll need it when you sit down.
When Caliente closes at 2 a.m., the night is only getting started. Nudists and swingers can head over to Club Elite were the private party is just under way. You can swing your anatomy all over the dance floor and if you are lucky take a peek in one of the rooms. Be careful though, you might see a scene from Caligula. At last, when the night is over and that beautiful Florida sunrise is coming up, you can head downstairs to the bakery.
In the end, the government has too many other things to worry about than this club. However, people should have the respect to carry these events out in the privacy of their own home and not parade it at a storefront near the mall. Where does it end?

Speed bumps, yes; sidewalks, no
Sidewalks in Beacon Woods will not create a safer environment for the residents. Wal-Mart is supplying $162,000 and the county is adding $162,000. I am against county money being used in this way.
Putting speed bumps on Clocktower Parkway in Beacon Woods will create a much safer situation. Also, if possible, monitor speed.
Our civic association is always concerned about liability. Any homeowner who has a sidewalk in front of their residence will be liable for any occurrence there, and any other sidewalks will be the responsibility of the civic association. This affects all residents of Beacon Woods. I believe there should be further discussion and we should have the opportunity to vote on this issue in the civic association.

It is more than a trailer park that makes that area "look bad"
