Maya Angelou: The University of South Florida starts off a week devoted to the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with poet and bestselling author of the book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Maya Angelou. The event is part of the University's Lecture Series. No cameras or video equipment are allowed. 7 p.m., today; USF Sun Dome, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. Dog training: The city of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department offers puppy and dog obedience training classes. Puppy classes are for dogs 5 months and younger, will begin at 6:15 p.m. and cost $45.
