Residents will keep paying for street fixes

The City Council voted Tuesday to continue a years-old policy of assessing property owners to help pay for street improvements. Administrators had asked for the council's blessing on the sometimes-controversial policy before planning this year's street improvements. The city is planning to repave 30 streets this year, at a cost of at least $900,000. Exactly what percentage benefitting property owners will pay will be decided later this year.
