Suncoast Gymnastics wins at AAU State Meet
The New Port Richey organization finished first in all four events last month.

Suncoast Gymnastics in New Port Richey won the Amateur Athletic Union State Championship on Dec. 15 at the 2007 AAU State Meet.
Suncoast, a gymnastics program run by Arnold and Cindy Gwinn, finished with an overall score of 151.575 - four points higher than Florida Flips' 147. Suncoast also finished first in all four events, including an impressive 38.175 in the beam event.
Sofia Ajuayo finished first in the Level 2X Young Division vault 9.525 and floor events (9.150), while Anthi Legakis came in second in the uneven bars (9.075) and Kaya Sanders finished sixth overall. Ajuayo finished second overall in this level.
Sara Grace Kelly came in second in the Level 2Y Young Division and Emory Cherry and Samantha Larkins took the top place in the Level 2Y Middle and Old Divisions, respectively.
Soccer: The Wesley Chapel U-11 Flames routed East Lake Arsenal 8-1 behind Connar Lufkin and Bronson Strampel. Strampel scored four goals Saturday, including three assisted by Lufkin.
The Flames (7-1-1) took a 4-1 lead into the half and the only goal goalkeeper Austin Moore allowed was on a miscue early in the first.
Zeke Hall also scored his first goal of the season, Andrew Lao picked up a goal on a direct kick and Lufkin finished the game with a goal and three assists.
Rugby: The Tampa Barbarians, a new Wesley Chapel rugby team, seeks high school players 14-19.
The season runs through March, and the team practices from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Tampa Community Park next to Freedom High School. For more information, contact coach Mark Van Trees at everythi@mindspring.com or (813) 363-4402.
Wrestling: The World Class Wrestling Club has begun practicing at River Ridge High School, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey.
The club is open to all elementary and middle school-aged kids. Practices are from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration is a one-time fee of $100, which includes a USA Wrestling membership card, club T-shirt and wrestling shoes. Roller hockey: Sportszone 2 will host the Tournament of Roller Hockey Series on Jan. 25-27.
The ages for the tournament will be 6 and under, 8 and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, 18 and under, 21 and under, adult and Pro Series. For information, go to www.torhs.com.
Sportszone 2 also will be starting its next Roller Hockey Recreational League in February. Registration is open for all age divisions: 8 and under through 18 and under.
