Pint-sized pirates parade today

TAMPA Gasparilla kicks off today with family activities and an annual parade featuring the area's cutest and most petite pirates. Highlights: Noon: Bicycle safety rodeo at Bayshore near Rome Avenue, with a helmet giveaway. 2 to 3:30 p.m.: The Preschooler's Stroll, from Bay to Bay Boulevard to Howard Avenue. 3:30 p.m.: The Gasparilla Air Invasion, with the Red Baron Squadron Aerobatic show, vintage aircraft and the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team. 4 P.M: Children's Gasparilla Parade, starting at Bay to Bay and proceeding north about 1.4 miles along Bayshore to Watrous and Orleans avenues. 7 p.m.: A 25-minute fireworks show at 7 p.m., which will also feature music.
