ST. PETERSBURG - Taylor Mattox scored a hat trick in eight minutes as top-seeded Seminole defeated Northeast 8-0 in the Class 5A, District 11 semifinals at Lakewood.

The Warhawks face Lakewood tonight at 7 for the championship.

Mattox scored her first goal from short range in the first two minutes and added her second and third goals on mid-range shots before the fans settled into their seats. She also ended the contest with another blast into the left corner in the fifth minute of the second half.

The Vikings were on the defensive every minute of the game with few exceptions as the Warhawks brought waves of offensive pressure from all directions.

Megan Fisher scored two goals for Seminole while Sierra Lelii and Noel Forsman each added a goal.

LAKEWOOD 1, OSCEOLA 0: Lakewood freshman Samantha Wilson beat Osceola goalie Jami Burden to a loose ball with three minutes remaining in the first overtime session to lift the Spartans to victory.

With much of the game being played in the middle of the field, scoring opportunities were few and far between. Osceola had the best opportunities in the second half, missing several shots wide and one at point-blank range.

The Warriors controlled the first overtime until a defensive lapse left Wilson and Burden to race for a ball that Wilson won to score the golden goal.
