LAND O'LAKES The Black Caucus of Pasco County and the United School Employees of Pasco are sponsoring a joint cleanup next week of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Land O'Lakes. Both groups plan to perform landscaping in the historically African-American cemetery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The cemetery contains the graves of some of Pasco's African-American settlers who worked in the area during the 1890s. Over the years, though, the cemetery's care has waned, and members of the Black Caucus have pushed to have it restored. Anyone who wants to volunteer for the cleanup is asked to call Blanche Benford at (813) 778-6064. DADE CITY Toast the kumquat at chicken dinner The Pasco County 4-H Foundation will hold its annual Kumquat Festival Chicken Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Dade City Armory. Advance tickets are recommended as there will be only a limited amount of tickets available at the door. All proceeds will go to the foundation for scholarships, supplies, awards cam and other educational opportunities. Call (352) 521-4288.
