Three charged in night hunt, chase

NEW PORT RICHEY
A deer decoy proved just too tempting for hunters in a truck Saturday night.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers say they saw a Ford pickup drive back and forth by thedecoy on Parkway Boulevard at 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
Then the pickup pulled over, officers said in a report, and a shot was fired from the passenger-side window. Hunting with a light at night is illegal.
When wildlife officers identified themselves, the report said, the people in the pickup fled.
The chase reached speeds of 80 mph, the report said, but ended 2 miles west of Parkway. Three people were arrested but only two arrest reports were made available on Sunday.
Joseph Porter Morrow, 59, of 11035 Lakeshore Drive in Land O'Lakes was arrested on charges of hunting at night with a light and discharging a firearm in a public right of way.
Kerry Fenner, 45, of 3737 Ford St. in New Port Richey was arrested on charges of hunting at night with a light and fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer and was served with an outstanding 2006 sexual battery warrant, according to jail records.
Fenner was held Sunday in lieu of $51,100 bail. Morrow was freed on bail that morning.

Sandwich snatcher returns, police say
Police say Jason Barry Jones stole a sandwich early Saturday but didn't get far.
He was arrested 45 minutes later when Zephyrhills police say he returned to the same store to get another sandwich.
It is just one of several bad judgments that police say landed Jones in the Pasco County Jail, where he was held Sunday in lieu of $10,600 bail.
According to a police report, it started at the Radiant Food Store on Gall Boulevard with Jones unsuccessfully trying to pay for a $7.56 Subway sandwich with an expired credit card.
An angry Jones said he was hungry, grabbed the sandwich and ran, the report said. That was at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
He came back at 4:15 a.m. to get another sandwich, police said, while "visibly inebriated."
After his arrest, the report said, he was found in possession of marijuana and several prescription drugs, including Xanax and Vicodin.
Jones, 24, of 40140 Otis Allen Road was arrested on charges of petty theft, disorderly intoxication, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
