Deadline looms for students in poster contest

STATEWIDE
Fourth- and fifth-graders throughout Florida have until Monday to participate in the American Red Cross poster contest as part of the 2008 Hazardous Weather Awareness Week. The students' art will be displayed in the state Capitol complex during the first week of February. Prizes include cash awards and weather radios from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Posters must be postmarked on or before Monday, and must arrive at the American Red Cross no later than Jan. 30. Winners will be notified by phone. Lutheran preschool holds pre-K signup
Holy Cross Lutheran Pre-School will hold its voluntary prekindergarten (VPK) preregistration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the school, 6193 Spring Hill Drive. Code compliance reviews are set
Hernando County Development Services will conduct code compliance reviews starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 7 at Hernando County Engineering, 1525 E Jefferson St. On the agenda: Composite Modules office building and hangar on Flight Path Drive, Hernando Square Mini Storage on Commercial Way, Mariner's Cay Apartments clubhouse at the northwest intersection of Northcliffe Boulevard and Lamson Avenue, and Mariner's Cay Apartments Building No. 7. Those wishing to submit comments regarding any of the above projects must do so by Friday. Call the Hernando County Building Department at 754-4165.
