Take steps to guide on the county's trails
Want to have a say about the kind of recreation trails you want to see in Pasco? Then there are two meetings on the county's trails master plan that you should attend: The first is Jan. 31, at the Starkey Environmental Education Center at the Starkey Wilderness Park, 10500 Wilderness Park Road in New Port Richey. The second meeting is at the Charles McIntosh Civic Center American Legion Hall, 37745 Church Avenue in Dade City. Both workshops start at 6 p.m. The county wants to hear your ideas on creating the plan for trails, greenways and blueways. Medicare is guest star at this party

Republicans to honor Dr. Sam Bala
Dr. Sam Bala of Dade City will be honored Feb. 22 by the East Pasco Political Club. He will receive the Lincoln Heritage Award for his outstanding commitment to the principles practiced and espoused by Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, and for his humanitarian service to his community, Pasco County and to his country. The award, instituted in 2003, was to recognize longtime registered Republicans from east Pasco County. The award dinner, chaired by Lowell Harris, will be held at the new Zephyr Palms Event Centre, 4645 Airport Road in Zephyrhills. Sheriff Bob White will be the master of ceremonies.
