ST. PETE BEACH This weekend is art fair time again along Corey Avenue The 14th annual St. Pete Beach Corey Area Art & Craft Fair is set for this weekend. Shop in the open air as 200 artists display their work among historic Corey Avenue's shops, restaurants and art galleries. The art fair will coincide with the outdoor Green Market. Needed are participants to bring vehicles to show off. Vehicles sought include public works vehicles, school buses, limousines, fire trucks, police cars, classic and antique cars, and motorcycles. Contact coordinator Kelley Poole, 363-9245. Jane Austen Book Club to start readings Jan. 31 The St. Pete Beach Public Library will host a discussion group devoted to the works of Jane Austen. Members of the Jane Austen Book Club will read one Austen title each month, then meet for discussion. The new program series begins Jan. 31 and runs through June. The first title selection is Sense & Sensibility; multiple copies are available for checkout at the library. When: Discussions are 2 p.m. the last Thursday of the month and at 10:30 a.m. the following Saturday through June Where: St. Pete Beach Public Library, 365 73rd Ave. Info: Call 363-9238 Mystery writers will be library fundraiser's focus Gone Baby Gone author Dennis Lehane and six other contemporary mystery writers are on the menu of this year's "A Sunday to Die For" benefit for the St. Pete Beach Public Library. The annual fundraiser is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the St. Pete Beach Community Center. Hors d'oeuvres, petite sandwiches and dessert will be served. Books will be available for sale and signing after the presentations. Advanced tickets are $35 and may be purchased at the library, 365 73rd Ave. Call 363-9238 for information. REDINGTON BEACH Property owners to elect new officer slate The Redington Beach property owners will meet tomorrow. The group will hold its annual meeting and election of 2008 officers and directors following dinner. Members in good standing are eligible for nomination and election to participate in the group's executive committee. All town residents are invited to attend. Agenda items include a review of RBPOI-sponsored events such as the annual scholarship award contest for high school seniors. Come out and meet your neighbors and have fun playing bingo. Proceeds benefit community service projects or are donated to area charities. Items needed include peanut butter, cheese spread, crackers, nuts, cocoa, instant coffee and tea bags, tuna and chicken packs, granola bars and beef jerky. Toiletries needed: body lotion, lip balm, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, disposable razors, deodorant, shampoo and eyedrops. Donations may be dropped in the designated bins at the Indian Shores Town Hall, 19305 Gulf Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. GULFPORT Free tax assistance may lead to high return Trained counselors or IRS-certified tax preparers are available to assist with tax form preparation and filing at no cost at several locations around the county. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) may result in a tax refund that can be potentially larger than the amount of taxes withheld from a qualifying worker's paycheck and experts say that up to 20 percent of eligible families are not aware of the tax credit or how to apply for it.
