New Port Richey pioneers
By JEFF MILLER, West Pasco Historical Society
Published January 23, 2008
These three buildings were among the first structures built in New Port Richey. They were on the east side of what is now Grand Boulevard, between Main Street and Orange Lake. They were the Newport Hotel, owned by Mike Broersma; a hardware and sporting goods store owned by Rollo Draft; and the Port Richey Drug Store, owned by B.H. Hermanson. There are also signs for A. Raymond Poole, photographer, who probably took this picture, and J.I. Gurney, insurance and real estate. This picture was taken about 1925.
