Program today to focus on gifted children

"A Toolkit for Success A Parent's Guide to Advocating for Their Gifted Child" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. today in the media center at Hernando High School, 700 Bell Ave. The program is co-sponsored by PAGES of Hernando (Partners Allied for Gifted Education and Support) and the Citrus Organization for the Gifted. The speaker is Donnajo Smith, director of gifted services for the Florida Department of Education. A question-and-answer period follows. Reservations are required. Arc Nature Coast needs sponsors
The Arc Nature Coast needs more table sponsors and donations of auction items for the annual Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on Sunday at Brooksville Elks Lodge 2582, 14494 Cortez Blvd. Table sponsorships are $50. Silent auction items can include a gift certificate or products. Tickets to the event are $10 (there is no cost to Arc members and their immediate family). Social hour is at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. The silent auction will continue throughout the evening. A cash bar will be available. Stones tribute band to perform
Stones Throw, a Rolling Stones tribute band, will perform from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Palmwood Pavilion on the Lake House Grounds, 1202 Kenlake Ave. The concert is the first in the Spring Hill Community Association's 2008 St. Petersburg Times Concert Series, a series of outdoor concerts that will continue throughout the year. General admission tickets are $10; tickets that also include a "meet and greet" with the band are $15. Season subscriptions for all 11 concerts are $300, and include four tickets to each show with VIP seating, parking and the "meet and greet" with bands. Food and drinks will be available.
