Sure, they could all be knitting away on their living room couches. But what fun would that be?
"We're called Craft and Chatter, and we do love to chatter," said Barbara Kuhlman, 76, of Largo. "We enjoy being together and chattering and sharing different patterns and getting help if we get some stitches we're not familiar with."
Once a week, the group gets together at the Largo Community Center, where they mostly knit and crochet. But they've also worked with wood, clay and quilling paper. They make lap robes for veterans and baby blankets for new mothers. Much of the material comes from donations.
"We use whatever is donated and then turn it back into the community," Kuhlman said.
The group meets from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at the Largo Community Center. For information, call the center at (727) 518-3131
