Church to hand out food to feed hundreds

Compassion Food Outreach will distribute food starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Grace World Outreach Church, 20366 Cortez Blvd. There will be enough food available to feed more than 300 households. Those attending must have their ID cards. The outreach is co-sponsored by the church and Mid-Florida Community Services. To register or for information, call 796-1425.
Park playground back in swing
The playground at Ernie Wever Youth Park, which has been closed since Dec. 17 for the replacement of all playground equipment, has reopened. The park is at 19473 Youth Drive, off Ponce de Leon Boulevard. For information, call the Hernando County Parks Maintenance Department at 754-4154.
SPCA to close for a few days
The SPCA of Hernando County will be closed Monday and Tuesday, as well as Feb. 4 and 5. Regular operating hours, which will resume on Feb. 6, are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Little League signs up boys and girls
West Hernando Little League will conduct final baseball and softball registrations for boys and girls ages 5 to 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Freedom Field on Deltona Boulevard. Tryouts will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday. For details, call Ray or Jay at 232-4671.
