ST. PETERSBURG - Northside Christian and Canterbury had to wait an extra 30 minutes to get their district semifinal started, but once it did Northside controlled the game en route to a 2-0 victory.
Mustangs freshman forward Logan Barnett accounted for both Northside Christian goals in the first half.
"(Barnett) hasn't scored that much this season," Mustangs coach Eric Macke said. "He's always been able to score before, but we're an inexperienced team and have been a step apart on our passes.
Barnett's first goal came seven minutes in as he received a pass from senior midfielder Alex King and stuck the ball in the left corner of the net to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.
After a stagnant first half for both teams, Barnett got behind the defense during stoppage time and flicked the ball over the keeper for his second goal. Barnett injured his collar bone on the play after colliding with the keeper and only played sparingly in the second half.
In the other semifinal, Shorecrest defeated Keswick Christian 8-0. Shorecrest got a hat trick from Nick Swiggett, two goals from Stephen Spanos, and one goal each from Parker Wolfinger, Quinn Ebright and Evan Jerome.
