LAND O'LAKES - Jerome Harrison scored 24 and Kevin Burnell added 10 as Land O'Lakes defeated a determined Springstead squad 64-50 Wednesday night.

Land O'Lakes raced out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and was led by Jerome Harrison's 14 first-quarter points. Springstead responded by clamping down on the Gators' up-tempo offense, forcing seven turnovers in the second quarter. The Eagles went into halftime trailing only 34-27.

Land O'Lakes kept the upper hand as neither team could gain control throughout the third quarter with the teams unable to get into the flow on the offensive end.

The Eagles (18-3) tried to rally in the forth quarter, cutting the deficit to 53-47 with 2:52 left.

But the Gators (16-5) responded with back-to-back baskets by Harrison, putting the game out of reach for Springstead.

Land O'Lakes won despite turning the basketball over 21 times.

"We just kicked around the ball all night long," Land O'Lakes coach David Puhalski said. "We could have scored 80 points if we just take of the ball and not turn it over."
