TAMPA A Port Richey doctor has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he possessed and distributed child pornography over the Internet. Dr. Richard Carino, 47, of Holiday, is a specialist in pain management and has an office at 6233 Ridge Road in Port Richey. He waived his right to appear in federal court Thursday for an arraignment and entered a written plea of not guilty. The FBI arrested him in May 2006 after a federal investigation into illegal prescription drug sales led to information that Carino collected child pornography. In 2005, the Drug Enforcement Administration began investigating Carino. When DEA agents searched his office computer, his wife, Autumn, told them that Carino had been downloading child pornography at home. According to the Florida Department of Health, Carino's medical license has been suspended.
