Cougars dominate Countryside moves on after traveling to Sarasota and shutting out the Sailors (14-10-5) 3-0 in a Class 6A matchup. "We played real well, won a majority of the 50/50 balls, controlled possession much of the game and outshot them, I think, 16-3," Countryside coach Rob Saltz said. "They had a nice, wide field that we could utilize some of our speed on the outside and use it to our advantage." Thea Linkfield scored for Countryside (12-6-1) in the game's 22nd minute and Katie Kent followed with a goal of her own 45 seconds later to put the Cougars up 2-0. Tanya Bawkins added a penalty kick goal after halftime in the game's 55th minute. Bryan Burns, Times staff writer Lakewood Ranch 4, Lakewood 0: Sarah Miller scored two goals and Sherry Walters and Jordan Reda added one each for host Lakewood Ranch (18-2-1). Lakewood kept scoring threat Lindsay Thompson, who has 43 goals this season in check, but could find no offense itself. Bradenton Herald
