2 chosen to lead county's Democrats
By Times Staff Writer
Published January 26, 2008
Hillsborough County Democrats, in an emergency meeting on Tuesday, elected a new chairman and vice chairman. Attorney Michael Steinberg was picked for the top post, with Pat Kemp, former aide to U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, as second-in-command. Steinberg replaces Mike Suarez, who resigned last month. Steinberg is the lawyer representing a Democratic political consultant challenging the national party's decision to strip Florida of its delegates to the presidential nominating convention. The party's move came as punishment for moving up the date of the Florida presidential primary to Jan. 29.
