Man shoots staffer in day care center

A man walked into a southwest Florida day care Friday and fatally shot a woman thought to be his estranged wife. Robert Harold Dunn, 44, opened fire Friday on Christine Lozier, 36, at Bobbie Noonan's Child Care where she worked, authorities said. No children were injured. Police say the couple has a daughter who was at the day care at the time of the shooting. Dunn was in custody Friday night. Information on charges was unavailable.

Teacher accused of anti-Muslim rant
A 16-year-old Muslim student said one of her teachers told a class that all Muslims are terrorists waging war against Americans and Christians, her father said Friday. Darlene Mahla, a spokeswoman for the Clay County School District near Jacksonville, said an investigation is continuing and no decisions were expected this week on whether the Orange Park High School teacher, whose name was not released, will face any disciplinary action. Mahla said the teacher, who teaches both day and night classes, is still in the classroom. The girl dropped the class, her father said.

U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon said Friday he would not seek an eighth term in Congress, giving Democrats a chance to go after an open Republican seat in the fall. The doctor wants to return to his medical practice full time, said spokesman Jeremy Steffens.
