Rodrigues makes Brazilian team
St. Petersburg High midfielder Adriana Rodrigues has earned a roster spot on the Brazilian national U-17 soccer team.
A sophomore in the International Baccalaureate program, Rodrigues played in Brazil's 3-0 win over Peru Wednesday night in the South American Nations tournament in Chile. The tournament is a warmup for the U-17 World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
Rodrigues is expected to return to St. Petersburg in early February.
Though born in the United States, under FIFA rules Rodrigues qualifies for the Brazilian national team because her mother is Brazilian.
Rodrigues plays center-midfield for St. Petersburg and has started every game for the Green Devils since coming to the school as a freshman.
