The annual Operation PRIDE will be Feb. 9 throughout Hernando County. This is an organized countywide neighborhood cleanup program. Bags and gloves will be supplied. Red Mule Runners challenge nears
The 29th annual Red Mule Runners Flatlanders Challenge, which includes a 5K and10K and a 1K kids run, will be Saturday in downtown Brooksville. Races will start in front of the Hernando County Government Center, at 20 N Main St. The 5K and 10K will start at 8 a.m.; the 1K kids run will start at 10 a.m. Registration for the 5K and 10K races is $20 in advance, $25 on race day. Brass quintet will perform at church
The Brooksville Music Club will sponsor a concert with the Brooksville Brass Quintet at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at Christ Lutheran Church, 475 North Ave. W. The program will include music from baroque to modern to Dixieland. There is no admission, but an offering will be taken. The concert is a benefit for the Brooksville Music Club Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to Hernando County high school juniors or seniors for private music lessons. Dinner-dance will give grads a boost
The Sons of Italy, Nature Coast Lodge 2502, will host its annual scholarship dinner-dance from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Hernando County Senior Citizens Club, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road. Tickets are $16. People attending may bring their own beverages. Proceeds will go to the scholarship fund and be distributed to selected graduating Hernando County high school students.
