Editor's note: The following is a recap of the week's news events , in the words of the newsmakers.

Gov. Charlie Crist in support of Pasco County's efforts to acquire the 12,500-acre Cross Bar Ranch.

Port Richey Council member Mark Hashim, regarding the city's canal dredging project.
"We still have places where we have overcrowded schools. But we're much better off than we were two or three years ago."
Ray Gadd, assistant superintendent of schools, regarding Pasco's efforts to keep up with population growth.
"Fortunately, we didn't have to go into detail."
Commissioner Ted Schrader after the county approved new language in its adult business law.
"The sheriff is accountable to the voters, and when a bureaucrat over there maybe isn't telling the commissioners what's going on, they're maybe not accountable to the voters."
Doug Tobin, spokesman for Sheriff Bob White, when it appeared the Sheriff's Office would have to give back seven Harley-Davidson motorcycles leased for traffic enforcement. The next day, commissioners agreed to use Penny for Pasco money to buy the motorcycles.
"He was more than a prophet. He was a dreamer."
Pinellas County Judge James Vincent Pierce speaking about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Piece was the keynote speaker at a ceremony sponsored by Union Missionary Baptist Church in Port Richey and the African-American Club of West Pasco.
"By the time you get children at 4 or 5, it's too late. They've got lots of cavities. We want to prevent that."
Dr. Natalie Carr, a pediatric dentist who examined children at Lacoochee Elementary School.
