Synagogue will join in World Wide Wrap

Congregation B'nai Israel will join synagogues around the world Sunday in the World Wide Wrap. The event teaches men and women how to wrap tefillin, or phylacteries, worn on weekday mornings for prayers. Tefillin consist of two black cubes with black straps attached to each cube. In each are scrolls of parchment inscribed with four passages from the Torah. One is worn on the forehead and the other on the arm. Scripture is recited as the wearer binds the leather around his arm. The program begins at 8:45 a.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 300 58th St. N. The guest speaker is former Boca Ciega standout Ben Pincus, who plays in the Israel Baseball League. A free brunch will begin at 9:30 a.m. Call (727) 381-4900.
