ST. PETERSBURG

The city and the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg hosted ground-breaking ceremonies Tuesday for the new Childs Park YMCA and a city micro library to be built at 691 43rd St. S. The 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will serve as a community center. In addition to Y-Achievers, an academic after-school program available to students in kindergarten through eighth grade, the new facility features a new city micro public library with 1,200 square feet to house a computer lab and a small collection of magazines and books. The building also has office space for the Childs Park Junior Rattlers football league. "We are pleased to be a part of this great collaborative effort involving the YMCA, Rattlers, Everyone's Youth United, neighborhood associations, city officials and recreation staff over the last 16 months," said Mayor Rick Baker. Program helps you flush water costs

Pinellas County's ultra low-flow toilet program is returning for another two years. This water conservation program provides up to $100 in rebates for each old-fashioned toilet, which uses more than 3.5 gallons per flush, that is replaced by a low-flow toilet, which uses 1.6 gallons per flush. Sixteen thousand rebates will be available to customers who get water from Pinellas County Utilities or the cities of Clearwater, Oldsmar, Pinellas Park, Safety Harbor or Tarpon Springs.
