Score of 49 wins Belles and Beaus tournament

Tim Boyd, Allen Lackey, John Bergstrom and Gordon Bigelow recorded a score of 49 to win the Belles and Beaus tournament last week at the Quarry Golf Course in Brooksville.

Jackie Haxer was the closest to the pin among women on hole No. 4.

Bigelow was the closest to the pin among men on hole No. 5.

League play: Meadow Oaks

Meadow Oaks holds scrambles Friday and Saturday. Here are some recent results:

Jan. 11: John Steele recorded a hole-in-one on No. 2 at Meadow Oaks during the Friday scramble.

Two teams tied for first with a score of 12 under par. Ron Cappillino, Norm Dickson, Rob Ward and Lynne Taylor were one team. Al Trudeau, Norm Taylor, Helen Saxon and Fred Azbill were the second team.

Jan. 12: Mel Coots, Al Trudeau, Ron Cappillino and John Steele combined to take first in the Saturday Scramble with a score of 16 under par.

George Sunderland, Larry Smith, Tom Winters and Willma Hartley took second with 15 under par.

Bill Cunningham, Charlie Wirth, Bill White and Paul Burgarella were third at 14-under.

Jan. 18: Larry Smith, Tom Demery, Frank Tax and Judy Ackerman won the Friday Scramble with a score of 12 under par.

Jan. 19: Chuck Aikner, Joe Pollard and Frank Pennella won a playoff to take first in the Saturday Scramble with a score of 16 under par.

Gary Coldwell, Justin Kinnison, Frank Garascio and Bob Proter also notched 16 under par but took second.

John Carlson, Bob Armstrong, Frank Pollard and Carl Nichols scored 15 under par for third place.

Magnolia Valley

The Magnolia Valley Golf Course has leagues available for public play twice a week.

There is a nine-hole scramble at 3 p.m. Wednesdays for ABCD players.

The course makes up the teams, and the cost is $19, which includes prizes.

The Sunday league starts at 8 a.m. and is an 18-hole, scramble format for ABCD players. The cost is $35, which includes prizes.

Upcoming tournaments

Beacon Woods Golf Course in Bayonet Point is hosting the Hernando Couples Tournament on Feb. 11 and a YMCA outing Feb. 24. For more information, call Dan Martino in the pro shop at (727) 868-9528.

March 15: Ridge Manor Kiwanis is holding a tournament at 8 a.m. March 15 at Sherman Hills Golf Course.

The tournament will be a shotgun start.

Hole sponsors are $250 for platinum (includes four players and hole sponsor); $150 for gold (includes two players and hole sponsor) and $75 for silver (includes hole sponsor).
