Road Work on Deltona will cause delays

SPRING HILL
Starting today, Deltona Boulevard will be repaved from Northcliffe Boulevard to Cortez Boulevard. The work is expected to continue through Feb. 8. Residents should expect one-way traffic and brief delays in the work area. Access to homes will be maintained. Call Andy Palmer with Hernando County Engineering at 754-4062, ext. 17013.
Party for Big Brothers, Sisters
A Webkinz and Shining Star Party to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kim's Korner, 3021 Commercial Way, in the Outlet Mall. There will be games and a raffle to win a free Webkinz and free Shining Star products. Those who bring a Shining Star to the party, or those who purchase one at the party will receive a gift. There will also be a contest for the best house created for their Webkinz or Shining Star. No pre-made items will be allowed. Houses must not be larger than a standard size shoe box. Red Mule race will close some streets
There will be temporary road access delays and street closures throughout downtown Brooksville from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday during the Red Mule Runners' Flatlanders Challenge Road Race. For details on affected streets, contact the Brooksville City Clerk's Office at 544-5407.
RIDGE MANOR
Have an omelet with Crime Watch
The Ridge Manor Area Crime Watch will host an omelet breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ridge Manor Community Center, 34240 Cortez Blvd. Sheriff Richard Nugent and County Commissioner Chris Kingsley will join Crime Watch members as cooks. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children. There will be door prizes and a raffle. Parents can also get free video ID recordings of their young children, provided by the Masonic Lodge. Also on hand will be the Sheriff's Office helicopter, mobile command unit, forensics and a K-9 demonstration at 8:30 a.m.
