Peak season parking fee at Pine Island to start

PINE ISLAND - Hernando County Parks Department will begin charging the annual peak season parking fee at Pine Island/Alfred McKethan Park starting Feb. 18. The park is on Pine Island Drive, west of Weeki Wachee. The parking fee will be $2 per vehicle daily, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees will continue through Nov. 14. Rogers Park on Shoal Line Boulevard in Weeki Wachee will begin charging the parking fee in late March or early April and continue through mid-September. Annual parking passes for both parks are available. The cost is $40, including tax, and can be purchased at the Tax Collector's Westside office, 7489 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, and at the Park's Department in Room 260 at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville.
