TODAY: USF women at Louisville
By GREG AUMAN
Published February 2, 2008
When/where: 7; Freedom Hall, Louisville, Ky.
Records: USF 11-9, 1-6 Big East; Louisville 14-7, 3-5
Notable: USF knocked off a ranked Louisville team 74-58 in Tampa last year, limiting the Cardinals to 1-for-15 shooting on 3-pointers. Don't be fooled by the Cardinals' league record. Their losses are to Connecticut, Rutgers, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh, five of the league's top six teams. It's Fan Appreciation Night at Freedom Hall, where Louisville is averaging 6,643 fans. Forward Angel McCoughtry, last year's Big East player of the year, leads the conference in scoring at 23.7 per game. USF is coming off a 23-point loss at Connecticut - the Bulls flew directly to Kentucky on Thursday - but Wednesday's loss still showed encouraging signs, especially in rebounding. USF's top rebounder is center Brittany Denson, who has averaged seven in 10 games since joining the team in December.
