TAMPA - Academy of the Holy Names and Tampa Catholic entered the semifinals evenly matched in a game that went down to the wire.

The Jaguars hung on for a 60-57 win in a game that was close throughout and face St. Petersburg Catholic in tonight's final. AHN (18-8) jumped out to a 19-10 first-quarter lead thanks to two 3s from Sam Suarez. Tampa Catholic tied it midway through the second quarter. The Jaguars answered with a 14-2 run to take a 12-point lead into halftime.

"They were shooting lights-out to start," Crusaders coach Nancy Kroll said.

Tampa Catholic (20-7) used a full-court press to get back into it. Center Sarah Brennan scored six straight to tie at 51. Clutch free-throw shooting from senior Katie Davis gave the Jaguars a 60-57 lead. Tampa Catholic had one last chance, but Eule Colette's contested 3 bounced off the rim as time expired. I thought she got fouled at the end," Kroll said. "But I never blame the referees. They hit some big shots and we didn't."
