Ebony Fashion Fair kicks off A busy week

The Ebony Fashion Fair celebrates 50 years in "Glam Odyssey: A Fashion Journey into Bliss and Beyond" at 8 p.m. Monday in the Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg.

Proceeds benefit community projects of the Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

PARC benefit has Mardi Gras theme

PARC makes a figurative return to Bourbon Street on Tuesday, celebrating Mardi Gras at a 6:30 p.m. fundraiser featuring tarot-card and palm readers, a handwriting analyst, a stilt walker, and other entertainment along with food and drink.

Casino fundraiser to help film festival

Casino Royale 2008, a Thursday benefit featuring casino-style gaming and silent and live auctions, will help raise money for the Sunscreen Film Festival and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Film Society. The event runs 7 to 11 p.m. at Push Ultra Lounge, 128 Third St. S, St. Petersburg, and includes hors d'oeuvres and drink specials.

Musical chairs dinner is Thursday

The Zodiac Group, the young professionals who support the Salvador Dali Museum, will have their seventh annual musical chairs dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Savannah's Cafe, 1113 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. 'Night at Vatican' will open exhibit

"A Night at the Vatican," a reception that opens the "Vatican Splendors" exhibition at the Florida International Museum on Thursday, will begin in the Palm Court Ballroom of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, then move to the museum for private tours.

Hours of the event, presented by the museum's guild, are 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Free shuttle service is available between 8 and 11 p.m.

Sorority benefit to take place Saturday

The Nu Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will host its annual Alpha Affair from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, 12600 Roosevelt Blvd., St. Petersburg.
