A free class, "When Bad Lawns Happen to Good People," will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, 19490 Oliver St.
The speaker is urban horticulture agent Jim Moll, who will discuss fertilization, water requirements and how to care for one's lawn.

Pet adopt-a-thons set Saturdays in February
Petco will host adopt-a-thons with Home at Last Pet Adoptions from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. this Saturday and every Saturday in February at 7223 Coastal Blvd.
All pets can be viewed online at www.halpetadoptions.petfinder.com and requests to have particular cats brought to one of the adopt-a-thons can be made.
All pets have been spayed or neutered, have age-appropriate vaccinations, have tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS, have an identity microchip and have been treated for parasites.

Family Care Councilto meet Monday
The Area 13 Family Care Council will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the Florida Department of Children and Families, 1601 W Gulf Atlantic Highway (State Road 44).

Garden Club to host gourmet luncheon
The Brooksville Garden Club will host a fundraiser gourmet luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 250 Bell Ave.
The program will feature flowers and Valentine traditions. Tickets are $14.50 and can be purchased by calling Lorraine Austin at 397-3157.
Proceeds from the luncheon will help fund summer "camperships" for children.
The club welcomes new members. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month. Call Austin for details.
Big band, karaoke events at High Point
Tickets are available for the following events at the High Point Community Center, 12249 Clubhouse Road:
