Testing of hydrants will run till feb. 22

Residents are reminded that Spring Hill Fire Rescue has begun flushing, flow testing and conducting maintenance of its fire hydrants in an area bordered by Commercial Way on the west, Kass Circle on the east, County Line Road on the south and Timber Pines on the north. The testing will continue through Feb. 22 and may cause clouding in the water. Users should allow the water to run until it is clear. For information, call 688-5030.
Your old glasses can help the needy
Clear Vision Optical is collecting eyeglasses for its semiannual Eyes for the Needy drive. Those interested can drop off their old or spare eyeglasses throughout February at the office in the Western Way Plaza, 12991 Cortez Blvd. For information, call 596-6769.

Go run, fun-walk at nature center
The annual Chinsegut Run and Fun Walk will be Feb. 16 on the Chinsegut Nature Center grounds, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road. Packet pickup and late registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 1-mile fun walk will start at 8:35 a.m. The entry fee is $12 for the 5K and $10 for the fun walk if paid by today. Marriage class deadline Tuesday
Tuesday is the deadline to register for the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service's marriage preparation class, which will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20 at the office at 19490 Oliver St. The cost is $10 per couple; couples must attend both sessions to receive a certificate of completion. The class fulfills the requirements of Florida Statute 741, Marriage Preparation and Preservation Act. A $32.50 discount on the marriage license is given to couples who complete the course.
