Ticketed teen's crime: jaywalking One day after the election, our brave sheriff's deputies sat in front of the well-known den of crime, Sickles High School, and began to crack down on that crime that you have been hoping that the deputies would finally do something about. That terrible crime is JAYWALKING. It must have taken a brave man to go up to a 15-year-old girl and give her a ticket for jaywalking. Did you have your Taser ready? When was the last time you heard of somebody getting a ticket for jaywalking? 1964. Do they teach that at the academy? How to ticket children? They must be so proud. What other laws are they going to pull out of the books to make money? Carlos J. DeCisneros, Citrus Park

I can just imagine the turn of the pen had this child been hit by a car while crossing with no crosswalk. I can just imagine the string of insults that would be aimed at the officers. The lawsuit would be the last insult and they parent would win.

Better for your child to be discouraged from jaywalking this way than by becoming another statistic. It's dangerous.
