TAMPA - Domination in every facet of the game was prevalent throughout the gym Friday night as Seffner Christian defeated Cambridge 67-39, and Bayshore Christian beat Tampa Bay Christian 72-24 to earn spots in today's final.
In the first semifinal, Seffner Christian scored early and often, generating points off Cambridge turnovers resulting in a 13-2 run to open the game. Point guard Austin Parimore was the playmaker defensively, maintaining a relentless pursuit until the final buzzer. Offensively, Seffner Christian's Devin Powlarinne and Cambridge's Will Bakos matched each other bucket for bucket, finishing with 16 points each.
The difference, however, was Seffner Christian's depth.
"There was no question that our depth wore them down, and as much as a factor as that was, their foul trouble also ended up putting them in an uncomfortable situation," Seffner Christian coach Roger Duncan said.
The Crusaders took advantage of every free-throw opportunity with near-flawless shooting from the line. In addition, Steven Cunningham added 10 points.
In the second semifinal, Bayshore Christian used crisp passing, accurate shooting and a suffocating defense to prevail. Hussien Shoubaki led the Warriors with 18 points, and Fred Lewis added 14.
