Senior talent show planned for Feb. 23

The Bright Star Senior Talent Show is set for 2:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the River Ridge High School Center for the Arts, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The event sponsored by Bright House Networks with all proceeds from the show benefiting the CARES (Community Aging and Retirement Services Inc.) Claude Pepper Senior Center and Senior Health Clinic in New Port Richey. Ticket donation is $5. Tickets can be purchased at any CARES Senior Center, Bright House office or before the show at the box office, which opens at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the Claude Pepper Senior Center at (727) 844-3077.
Session gives help on Medicare plan
The next session of the CARES (Community Aging and Retirement Services Inc.) "My Medicare Matters Navigator" program will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the CARES Enrichment Center, 12417 Clock Tower Parkway, Hudson. The program offers seniors information to help choose a Medicare Part D prescription plan or to compare Medicare Advantage plans. This session is for anyone interested in learning more about Medicare Part D. Please bring your Medicare number, Medicare Part D prescription drug plan number, Medicare Advantage or Medigap policy number because they can help you navigate some of the sites. Caribbean cruise planned Nov. 9
CARES (Community Aging and Retirement Services Inc.) will have a cruise presentation at 2:30 p.m. Wednesdayon the Eastern Caribbean seven-day cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. The ship sails from Port Canaveral on Nov. 9. Goldmark World Travel will do the presentation at CARES Enrichment Center, 12417 Clock Tower Parkway, Hudson. The proceeds will benefit the CARES Senior Moments Early Memory Loss program and CARES Adult Day Services available in Dade City and New Port Richey. Reserve a seat; call (727) 862-9291, ext. 224.
Heart disease seminar Thursday
Humana Active Outlook will present a health education seminar on heart disease from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in New Port Richey. The free event, which is open to the public, will feature preventative health screenings, fitness classes, seminars on wellness, expert speakers and healthy eating demonstrations. During the event, participants will be offered complimentary food samples and presentations on setting goals for improving their health and overall wellness.
