BROOKSVILLE - A 17-year-old boy has been accused of selling prescription drugs on the campus of Central High School. The teen, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail on Friday. He faces a felony charge of possession and/or sale of a controlled substance. The teen also received a 10-day out-of-school suspension with a recommendation for expulsion. The school resource officer at Central said she got information that the teen was selling drugs on campus and subsequently told school administrators, according to a report from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. A search of the teen and his belongings revealed a plastic bag with hydrocodone and water pills. The student told school administrators he planned to sell the pills at the park for $5, according to the report. After taking sworn statements from the school officials, the officer called the boy's mother. The woman told the officer that she didn't want her son talking to the officer about the incident, and the boy was then taken into custody.
