Navy Seaman Eric J. Hale has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Hale's work included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

He also participated in "Battle Stations," an exercise that gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet.

Hale is the son of Valerie M. and James J. Hale of Largo and is a 1997 graduate of Columbus High School, Columbus, Ga.

Coast Guard Reserve Seaman Apprentice Carly A. Trent has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J.

During eight weeks of training, Trent completed a curriculum consisting of academics, physical fitness and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military customs, seamanship, first aid, firefighting, and marksmanship.

Trent is the daughter of Brenda K. and Michael P. Trent of Clearwater. She is a 2000 graduate of Largo High School.

Air Force Reserve Staff Sgt. Lisa M. Wallace is currently deployed in Southwest Asia to support the missions of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Wallace is assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Wing providing military aerial operations from its forward-deployed location to sites in Kuwait and Iraq.

Wallace, a medical technician with seven years of military service, is normally assigned to the 445th Aeromedical Squadron, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

She is the sister of Leslie Wallace of Largo. She graduated in 2000 from Dunedin High School and received an associate degree in 2007 from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell, Ala.

Army Pfc. Joshua M. Stubbins has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During nine weeks of training, Stubbins studied the Army mission, core values, and physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Cleo Spence of Largo and is a 2007 graduate of Largo High School.
