Bhutto autobiography out days before election

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - An autobiography completed by Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto just days before she was assassinated was published Tuesday. Bhutto described her fateful return to Pakistan in October - where she ultimately was killed Dec. 27 in a suicide attack - and her failed talks with U.S.-backed President Pervez Musharraf, which she hoped could ease the transition to civilian rule. Bhutto's political party said Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy & the West, published by Simon and Schuster, had been planned long in advance. But its release could give an extra boost to the party's cause in Monday's vote. Opinion polls show Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party is the front-runner. Orders to military: Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the new army chief, has ordered the withdrawal of military officers from the government's civil departments, officials said Tuesday, an action that reverses an important policy of his predecessor, President Pervez Musharraf.
