Grouper season now closed in federal waters
The seasonal closure for gag, red and black grouper in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico runs through March 15. Federal waters extend beyond 9 nautical miles offshore. And the commercial harvest of gag, red and black grouper in gulf state waters inside 9 nautical miles is prohibited during this period. But the recreational harvest of gag, red and black grouper is allowed in gulf state waters under Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission bag- and size-limit regulations.
