Two girls hit by car, one dies

TAMPA - One pedestrian was killed and another injured when a car hit them as they ran across Dale Mabry Highway Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Kaitlyn M. Grogan, 18, died at the scene and Brittany J. Gruber, 17, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with head injuries, a Highway Patrolreport said. The two were running west across the southbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway just before 10 p.m. when a 2006 Acura struck them, the report stated. The driver, Aaron M. Carr, 23, was not injured. No charges were filed against Carr.
