Ferg's will host talent contest for 10-week run

ST. PETERSBURG Ferg's Sports Bar and Grill will host the Rising Star Talent Competition for a 10-week run starting at the end of February. Every Thursday from 8 to 10 p.m. host Jimmy Danelli (comedian, writer and the boyfriend from the sitcom Ellen) will present amateur and professional solo acts including comedians, singers, musicians, dancers, jugglers and magicians. Contestants show up each night to enter. They get a 31/2-minute set to compete for audience votes. Contestants will be allowed to perform every week if slots are available. At the end of qualifying, the 15 contestants with the most audience votes will perform at the grand finals, where they will be judged by newspaper, radio and television personalities. The winner will receive a $500 grand prize. Other prizes include a three-day, two-night vacation coupon. Ferg's is at 1320 Central Ave. ST.
