People are talking about . . . 'There's nothing pretty about Iraq' (Standing By, Feb. 15) Mark has said little so far of his war experience, but he surprised Jan with this nugget while they watched a travel show. Rebekah wrote: "Sometimes out of the blue (my husband will) tell a story about a deployment - sometimes they're stories I'd really rather not hear. But I'm always fascinated that there's this huge part of my soul mate that I don't know at all." Evolution in education (The Gradebook, Feb. 15) A Times survey found that only 22 percent of Floridians polled wanted public schools to teach an evolution-only science curriculum. Tere wrote: "FL can't make curriculum decisions based on truthiness. Just teach my child the scientific evidence on evolution. I'll help her - at home - realize that the fact that evolution and the book of Genesis are at odds doesn't mean there is no God."
