Beall's is looking for a few fresh faces.

Concerned that its ads too often feature familiar models, the Bradenton-based department store chain just staged its first open casting call in a decade for prospective teen fashion models who look 14 to 20.

The first 200 of 600 who applied were invited in for a look Monday. Only a few dozen will be chosen for paid advertising shoots.

Next up, Beall's is staging a contest to find a model age 25 to 35 to promote Brisas, its new private-label line of casual activewear, such as hoodies, shorts, jogging suits and T-shirts. Candidates must live in Florida. Nonreturnable photos must be sent to the department store's headquarters. More details are available at bealls.com.

Prizes include five Brisas outfits, a $200 gift card and a modeling contract with a Tampa agency.

"We were getting the same faces from modeling agencies, so we wanted to expand our choices," explained Karen Filips, director of promotions.
