Rays stadium, Citizens of month are on CONA agenda

The Council of Neighborhood Associations meets today at the Sunshine Center. On the agenda: Michael Kalt, the Tampa Bay Rays' senior vice president of development/business affairs, will discuss the Rays' proposed new waterfront ballpark and Tropicana Field redevelopment. Also, CONA will present Citizen of the Month awards to the founders of the Saturday Morning Market, Gail Eggman and David Ellon.

When: 7 p.m. today doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Event kicks off club for disabled youths

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast and PARC will celebrate the kickoff of a first-of-its-kind collaborative recreational and afterschool club for children with developmental disabilities. Children who reside at PARC's Cottage, an intermediate care facility for children with developmental disabilities, will be the first served by the unique club, which will feature inclusionary recreation and afterschool care programs.

Stroll and shop into the sunset on Friday

Friday's Grand Central Stroll through the Grand Central Business District, (First Avenue N to First Avenue S from 19th Street to 31st Street N) offers strollers plenty of after-hours relaxation and fun at many of the district's unique shops, restaurants, and nightspots open late with specials and entertainment.

Rays rep, financial rep will speak Monday

The Pasadena Vista Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly general meeting Monday. Agenda items include a presentation from Melanie Lenz, senior director of development for the Tampa Bay Rays, and another from representatives of LoanWell Financial Corp.

COUNTYWIDE

Officials to discuss annexation, more

State Rep. Janet Long and county Commissioner Robert Stewart are scheduled to speak at next week's meeting of UCAP-USEM. United Community Associations of Pinellas is made up of residents of unincorporated Pinellas communities including Tierra Verde, Pasadena, Lealman and Seminole. Unincorporated Seminole Community Association, which represents the interests of other residents of unincorporated central Pinellas County, will soon merge with the UCAP group. The scheduled speakers will address countywide issues including annexation. Time will be allotted for questions.

The meeting is open to the public.
