Disk golf, anyone? Quarry course to start league

The Quarry Golf Course is starting up league for a different kind of sport. The Brooksville course will begin Evening Disk Golf League beginning March 12.
The league will meet every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and cost is $40 per person to join.
"It's basically golf with a frisbee," coordinator Mike Barnett said. "It's a weighted plastic flying disk, but Frisbee is the best way to describe it.
"Think of golf that is basically thrown."
The game is very similar to regular golf, as the lowest score wins. However, the disk must be tossed into a big metal basket with a chain around it and there are hazards on the course as well.
Barnett said that within the next two months there will be another nine-hole disk golf course opening in Hernando County. It will be located at Amity Trails, which is at Linden Road and Spring Hill Drive.
Register at the Quarry by calling 352544-5485 and for more information, contact Barnett at (352) 397-3257.
