PORT RICHEY A young man was shot in the stomach Wednesday afternoon after an argument with several men in a car, the Sheriff's Office said. The victim's name and age were not released. Sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said the victim was flown to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Tobin said, a silver Saturn with dark windows pulled up in front of 6605 Ginny Drive. The victim was standing outside. An argument erupted and one of the car's passengers got out and shot the victim at least once in the lower abdomen, Tobin said. The investigation is continuing. NEW PORT RICHEY 'A little bit upscale' complex planned A vacant lot in unincorporated Pasco County could become home to a 24-unit apartment complex inside the city limits. City Council gave a preliminary blessing Tuesday to annexing the Congress Street lot into the city. Final approval could happen next month. Developer Bonik International Inc. wants to build a four-story apartment building with one- and two-bedroom units on that 1.3-acre site. The proposed "Senators Place" apartments would be just north of Massachusetts Avenue. Bob Nikolic, Bonik president, said he would save thousands of dollars in impact fees by annexing into the city. He wants to begin construction as soon as he gets city approval. He said the apartments will be "a little bit upscale." Nikolic also built the nearby Congress Place Apartments. SAINT LEO University hosts inspiring speaker Jennifer Rothschild, an inspirational speaker and musician, will present a program at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Community Center on the campus of Saint Leo University on State Road 52. The program is free; however, reservations are advised by calling (352) 588-8572. Clarification City Council candidate Susan Clark currently works only for F.I. Grey & Son real estate company. Based on her financial disclosure forms, a story in Wednesday's Pasco Times reported that she also works for a second real estate company. She only received income from the second company for an earlier deal that finally closed.
