Edwin Watts Golf moves, goes upscale

By Sheryl Kay and Jared Leone, Times Staff Writer
Published February 22, 2008

CARROLLWOOD - Golfers who plan to swing by the Edwin Watts Golf store have to set their sights about a mile away on Dale Mabry.

The Carrollwood icon that sat in a stand-alone building for nearly 20 years has moved just south of Stahl Road to a 15,000-square-foot space, twice the size of the old location.

Visitors will find a completely redesigned floor plan, which the headquarters in Fort Walton Beach is using for all new stores and existing ones that need to be updated, said Chip Shine, a management trainee.

The high-tech, upscale setting includes lots of modular shelving, three new golf simulators, a larger club repair department, and many new brand names along with favorites like Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping and MacGregor.

"We're still getting our old customers," Shine said, "but we're also getting a lot of new people that never came in before, so this is working well."

Looks like the new location at 11921 N Dale Mabry Highway might be a hole in one. Call 813 960-5330.

Rapid Refill Ink

For an ecofriendly, cost-effective solution to ink-jet and laser cartridge replacement, Rapid Refill Ink is now open.

The store specializes in remanufacturing, refilling and selling ink-jet and laser cartridges for printers, copiers and fax machines.

Ecofriendly aspects of the store are countertops made of compressed sunflower seeds, slat walls made of 100 percent wheat stock, and carpet loomed from 52 percent postconsumer content.

There are more than 100 stores nationwide.

The Carrollwood store is at 10416 N Dale Mabry Highway. Call (813) 514-0680.
