Beltone, Publix win business awards

SEVEN SPRINGS Beltone Hearing Centers and the Publix Super Market at Southgate were named businesses of the year Thursday at the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce's annual Business Development Awards Banquet. Beltone received the honor for businesses with 25 or fewer employees. The company started in Pasco in 1973 with two employees. Now it has eight locations in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties and a staff of 15. Laurel Robinson and Greg Weiss accepted the award on behalf of Beltone. The New Port Richey Publix started in 1965 with 85 employees and now has a staff of 170. The store has 14 former associates and department managers who are now store managers. The store manager is Brian Singletary. In a news release, the chamber praised both businesses for their involvement with community organizations.
